Tooth fairy thinks teeth are delicious

COMPLIMENTS OF THE NEW YEAR!

It’s been a while. I trust you are well and that 2018 treated you well. My faith, sanity and body were tested to limits I didn’t know I could withstand in 2018 but I scribble here for you, proof that I survived. 😊

I enjoyed a lot of art with my class last year but I didn’t write about it because the year was the most trying I had had in my teaching career. 2018 had spectacular displays of sunrise and sunsets though. I will post a few pics in the future.

Let’s fast forward to 2019 where I have just met an incredible group of learners. I will write about one in particular as he fascinates me. We officially kicked off the year yesterday the 9th of January and the day was hyped with excited parents, stationery submissions, and frightened but excited learners. One stood out for me and it was his gigantic personality more than his image. He is barely taller than a chair and I had to double check if he was the right age.

He has a voice just as tiny as he is, but oh my goodness does he use it😂. He struggles with sitting still and when we were writing our goals for the year his were “behave and self control”. I gaged that this had been taught to him because of how often he stated it. I was soon to find out why these two were chosen for him. He told story after story to anyone who would listen and he had other learners challenging his information to which he felt teased.

Today has been the most interesting day with him as he lost a tooth and had to share that the tooth fairy would come for his tooth and leave money for him.

“The tooth fairy loves gobbling teeth and I need to make sure that mine is under my pillow so that he eats it”. I appreciated this imaginativeness as I hadn’t witnessed it in a while. He sings when he works and draws vivid work because “I just imagined a real jungle” or “I just thought of what a lion would look like” 😂.

I look forward to the fun times we will have with this group of kids and I hope we will all reach our goals this year as we planned.

Wishing you a fantastic and successful year.

PS my goals were: to help them succeed and to be the best teacher for them.
